A fibers artist from the Rio Grande Valley earned her BFA in Fibers from the University of North Texas. After attending multiple workshops at the Penland School of Crafts, Peter’s Valley Center for the Crafts, and UNT, Sarah has cultivated a strong passion for accessible adult art and craft workshop education. During her last semester, she interned at Oil and Cotton Creative Exchange, a community art center in Oak Cliff, Dallas, TX. Sarah began volunteering at CFP last summer as a way to become closer to the Denton community and as a research opportunity for her future natural dye garden. Soon after, she taught a natural dye workshops in the farm’s Education Barn and became the Workshop Coordinator. She organizes workshops at the farm that encourage others to explore the many art processes that utilize sustainable and natural materials. Sarah believes in the empowerment of making thinks by hand and works to support nurturing learning environment for instructors and participants.

An original CFP volunteer who has contributed to the farm for a number of seasons. After volunteering as the lead assistant for the Young Farmers and Summer Camp programs, she is excited to join the team as the Children’s Programming Assistant. Clarissa is a passionate member of Denton’s local food community and grows a small edible garden in the windows of her 2nd story apartment. She is interested in native Texas edibles and believes they are an important part of a sustainable food system. Her favorite farm animals are the bacteria that are so very important for a healthy soil but thinks the farm guinea hens are pretty cute too.
